With the move to more technological integration, it's a good thing Hina has a Masters in Management Information Systems and a Project Management Professional (PMP)®. As a Democratic Socialist, Hina believes in a Free Palestine, Free Universal Healthcare and taking care of your neighbors instead of deporting them.
Key Issues:
1. No Forever Wars
I can’t recall a time, in my lifetime, where the United States wasn’t involved in some form of armed conflict. We are wasting our sons and daughters on capitalist ventures, just as we are invading Venezuela and supporting genocides in Congo, Sudan and Palestine. All that money spent on the military could be spent on needs here domestically.
2. Supporting Workers’ Rights
Lisa Needs Braces! Unions are the backbone of this country, and workers are the cogs in the machine. Workers must have their rights protected and employers must pay workers a living wage. The minimum wage being less than $30 isn’t even keeping up with inflation.
3. Supporting Tenants’ Rights
Rent is pricing people out of housing. Allowing corporations like BlackRock to buy all the single-family homes and then inflating the prices is making it impossible for anyone my age or younger to achieve the American Dream. We need to expand access to TOPA. If you’re already paying rent, that should contribute to the purchase of the property, if that is something the tenant aspires to.
4. Universal Healthcare
How in the year of some people’s Lord 2026 are we still considered the greatest nation on earth, yet our citizens don’t have access to affordable healthcare? We must ensure citizens have access to bodily autonomy and to not be hindered by lack of access to medical professionals by predatory health care companies. Access to abortion is a human right. Trans rights are human rights.
5. De-militarize Police
Police budgets continue to increase exponentially while support for social services dwindles. Instead of endangering officer lives with needless traffic stops, a better use of those funds would be to send out social workers for health checks before incidents escalate into tragedies.
6. Safe/Inclusive Learning Environments
I currently work in the school system, and it is not at all how I remember it. Students are being bombarded from all sides by social media and AI, neither of which should be the sole source of information for learning. Ensuring students are in a safe, inclusive environment is paramount to the learning experience. Paying teachers for the Herculean effort they put in daily is the least we can do.
7. No Corporate Money in Politics
Citizens United was the bell tolling for free and fair elections. Now special interests can buy campaigns. I take no corporate money and pledge not to, going forward. I’d rather lose than sell out.
8. Combat Climate Change
Under Trump 1.0, the United States removed itself from the Paris Accords and that setback has caused even more pollution to enter the environment. As the main source of pollution [Petroleum Papers], the US should be leading in combatting climate change. We need to reign in all capitalist ventures that belch out toxic gases and chemicals instead of fining them and moving on. Consumerism is one of the main sources of this problem.
9. Housing for All
There should not be one unhoused person in the United States. There is available housing, but it is being hoarded. The prices have been inflated by unscrupulous companies and landlords.
10. Abolish ICE.
The only ice I like is in my coffee and the kind used by the Washington Capitals. What ICE is doing is lawless and sadistic. ICE has no accountability and that makes it incredibly dangerous. There is no mass invasion happening on any border and even if that were the case, the amount of force being used far exceeds the needs. If you’re an LEO and you’re constantly afraid for your life, maybe being a LEO is not for you.
11. Protect Bodily Autonomy
Trans rights are human rights. Access to abortion is a human right. Gender Affirming care is a human right.
12. Dismantle Carceral/Military Industrial Complex
Three quarters of the U.S. budget is spent on the Department of Defense. As a pacifist, the idea that we have an armed services branch designed to invade countries that conspicuously have some natural resources our capitalist overlords wants indicates that our armed services are protecting companies, not people. The last democracy we liberated was in World War Two.
